Mow Strip Curbing in Bozeman, MT
Tired of string trimming every edge after you mow? A concrete mow strip gives your mower wheel a clean edge to ride along, so you can cut right up to your beds in one pass. EdgeWorks Curbing installs mow strip curbing for homes across Bozeman, Belgrade, Big Sky, and the Gallatin Valley.
Every curb is machine-formed on-site as one continuous piece, so it won't separate or let grass creep into your beds.
What Is a Mow Strip?
A mow strip (also called a mowing edge or mower edge) is a border along your lawn that's low and wide enough for a mower wheel to roll on. Instead of stopping short of a flower bed or rock border and going back with a trimmer, you run one wheel along the strip and cut the grass right to the edge.
How Concrete Curbing Works as a Mow Strip
Our standard concrete curb is designed to double as a mow strip. When it's installed properly, your mower deck hovers over the front edge of the curb without driving onto it. That lets you cut cleanly along every bed, often eliminating string trimming altogether.
One continuous border with no seams for grass to grow through
Follows every curve of your beds, tree rings, and walkways
Keeps rock and mulch out of the lawn and grass out of the beds
Available smooth, colored, or stamped
Installed by a crew trained hands-on through Curb University, using Borderline curbing equipment
Mow Strip vs. Plastic or Steel Edging
Thin plastic and steel edging don't give a mower wheel anything to ride on, so you still have to trim. They also tend to lift out of the ground through Montana's freeze-thaw cycles. A concrete mow strip stays put and does the trimming work for you. See our full curbing vs. pavers vs. steel comparison.
Mow Strip Curbing Cost
Mow strip curbing uses the same pricing as all of our curbing: $10 per foot for Classic Smooth, $11 for One Color Smooth, $13 for Basic Stamp, and $16 for Advanced Stamp. Optional stainless steel cable adds $1 per foot. Our minimum job is $1,000 within 40 miles of Bozeman. Try our cost estimator for a quick ballpark.
Mowing Tips for Your New Curb
Wait one week after installation before mowing right next to the curb.
Set your mower deck so the blades clear the concrete. Blades set too low can scratch or chip it.
Standard string trimmers won't hurt the curb, but never use metal trimmer blades near it.

Mow Strip FAQ
Can I drive my riding mower over the curb?
Push and riding mowers can safely pass over curbing as long as the mower deck is adjusted so the blades don't hit the concrete. Don't drive tractors, vehicles, or heavy equipment over it.
Can a mow strip go around trees and beds?
Yes. Because the curb is formed on-site, it can follow tight curves around flower beds and tree rings, along fences, and around landscape rock.
Will it stop all trimming?
In most yards, a properly installed curb eliminates trimming along the edge. Areas against fences, posts, or buildings may still need a quick pass.
